Could have been better....

This is not another very noisy Vijay movie. They tried to maintain a class and in which I will say that they have awfully failed. Even it would have got better if it has got down with the usual Vijay's formula. The director has wasted the mass the lead actor has.

It will not definitely satisfy any of Vijay's fanatic. Yet I believe it will be a normal entertainer if one goes without any expectations as Vijay himself has said. The music score by A.R.Rehman is great and caused the movie fans to dream of very classy scenes before the movie was released. But the director has not done to satisfaction. The first song has abruptly failed to be the intro song of Vijay

Review :

A Funny and Topical satire.

In War, Inc we find the logical extension of the current outsourcing of all war-related activities we are currently doing in Afghanistan and Iraq. If you are familiar with the antics of Halliburton, Kellogg, Brown & Root and Blackwater overseas you are already halfway home to fully appreciating the satire of Cusack's latest piece. Cusack plays a corporate hit-man named Brand Hauser who finds himself in Turiquistan organizing a trade show in the newly liberated country as his cover while waiting to get access to his latest target. While there he finds himself intrigued by the anti-establishment reporter played by Marisa Tomei and pursued by the over-sexualized pop star played by Hilary Duff. We are introduced to Hauser's past, which includes a tragedy that has haunted him ever since and the corporate assistant named Marsha Dillon who actually is running the entire operation for him (and played hilariously by Joan Cusack). While some moments are played suitably over the top, they aren't always the moments you expect and the little touches often catch you by surprise. All the principals turn in solid performances. Duff's accent comes and goes but otherwise she does a very nice job and goes a long way to dispel her Disney image. Tomei is funny but understated while the Cusack's own nearly every scene they are in. To be fair, they are given good material. The writers turn in a good script with enough twists and turns and visual gags to keep you giggling throughout all the way to the predictable conclusion. In fact, the predictability of the end is the only thing that keeps me from rating it higher as the story twists and turns it's way to the expected conclusion.

If you like your comedy broad and physical, there is probably not enough here to keep you interested the entire movie. On the other hand, if you like sly comedy and broad satire, this is for you.

This film deserves the rating, but...

Like most of the Turks, I have watched this film lots of times, and each time I still could find it entertaining, funny and touching... It very much deserves the high ratings, however, as many others have already noted down, comedy is not universal. Thus the movie may not mean so much to other nationalities and the rating may lead to wrong impressions/expectations. There seems no solution to this rating problem, but maybe the source of the rating could somehow be noted down somewhere... In this way the visitor will be able to see that (1) it is a masterpiece of Turkish cinema (due to high rating) (2) It has only been watched and rated by mostly Turkish people so far (due to source of rating). In time more people from all over the world might have opportunity to watch and rate this film and we can finally have a "universal" rating for it.

Entertaining For One Time Usage

As you know, movies such as Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans, etc. are coming out and doing well in the box office for like a week and then they fall off the grid. Why? Well the answer is simple...the movie is freaking retarded. I mean come on, a movie based on spoofs from another movie would sound like it might produce a few laughs, but I think many agree that we laughed at first and then never watched them again. They could just never click because the writers are probably some drunk college kids who said one night after taking a massive hit from their bong, "DUDE!! I GOT IT!! LETS, LIKE, MAKE A MOVIE...OFF ANOTHER MOVIE!!!" and then voilà, we have crap on the screen yet again.

This movie is no different. Except for the fact that when I laughed, my laugher's were meaningful. I laughed for a least 30 seconds and not just a quick giggle. This movie did pretty well on its spoofs but at many times it was just so unrealistic that it really downed the potential this movie may have had. Some of the timing didn't match, and you know I could go on forever but I'll just stop and say if you really have nothing else better to do, then maybe just give this a watch and laugh a little and then move on with your life. A rental may suffice but don't buy it.

Plain and Perfect

I was not expected an extraordinary movie such as Beynelmilel. Recently, there has undeniably been an increase in Turkish movies. However it is clear that quantity can not bring quality into the scenes. I am grateful for seeing a master from Gulmez and Onder. The budget was small, contrary, story and drama was at the highest. We learn the life of Gevendes' - local musicians- in Adiyaman region. People were looking for a little bit freedom for their way of life. For the moment, it seems strange even listening music was prohibited by law makers. We should appreciate the freedom we have now. It is definitely that the freedom needs enlargement in Turkey. Comparing in the days we live I feel better.

The movie was made so plain and perfect. Directors did not exaggerate the scenes to increase humour. Humour factor was talently implemented into the body of the movie. As Gulendam, Ozgu Namal played very well. She was really beautiful and capable of playing difficult characters. As Abuzer, Cezmi Baskin was fantastic. His play is not comparable to the other Turkish players. He is far behind them. As Semra, Meral Okay capable of adding value to the movie. We can see her power easily. Most of the other players are not famous but they were playing their roles like they are an expert.

In my opinion Beynelmilel should have gone for Oscar instead of Dondurmam Gaymak. Definitely the directors make Beynelmilel in basic film rules and they seem to win success with the help of story, players, scenes, culture.

Uninteristing and Silly

In "Deep Winter" Eric Lively and Kellan Lutz play two friends who join forces on a adventure of a lifetime: to be part of a documentary showing their risky performances while skiing on a dangerous mountain on Alaska. Followed by the filmmaker (Luke Goss) and a well trained guide (Michael Madsen) they're heading to something that can change their lives and not in a good way. And a film like this couldn't exist without some cracks on this beautiful friendship after Lively's character start to date Lutz's sister (played by Peyton List).

Lifeless and quite insignificant, there isn't much to be said about this flick since it's a movie that doesn't have much to say or show. Sure, there's some breathtaking skiing sequences and the two hotties as main stars but that's it; the rest of the movie isn't all that interesting and we only have endless skiing scenes and some other moments involving Madsen's character saying there's a storm coming which makes even more impossible the already impossible stunt, and the filmmaker always concerned about losing money and wasting time waiting for the weather to change so he can film his documentary. It repeat itself so much that it gets completely dull.

Almost enjoyable. Almost. 5/10

Cool and quirky flick that more people should see.

Blister! is a well-made Japanese drama/comedy that focuses on the nature of geek culture and obsession; what it means to be an outsider. That might sound pretentious, but it's not. The film moves along at a good pace, and the acting and script leap the subtitle barrier effortlessly. The jabs at Star-Trek fans and McFarlane comics characters are definitely well-placed, but this is clearly a movie made by fans, for fans - of all kinds.

The opening consists of a bad b-movie Mexican Standoff in an apocalyptic future. It'll make sense later on, I promise. Not perfect, but absolutely worth your time, and probably something you haven't seen.

Very Entertaining BUT for 2 big BUT's......

Indra Kumar may never have made cinematic masterpieces but has always delivered good stellar, albeit very inspired entertainment.

However something made me feel that this movie may in fact not be inspired, because buffoonery a staple of Bollywood comedies since the 90's, is in fact "Very 90's and before that Very 60's" in Hollywood, there there have been the odd movie of this genre in recent years but those have all been copied thanks to one great man Mr. Neeraj Vohra(in partnership with Priyadarshan off course), I cant wait to see which movies hes plundered in his latest venture.

BUT the fact is I hoped and felt this movie was original, BUT for a long time since i can remember I WAS WRONG.

So wrong in fact that 15 mins into this movie i knew almost exactly the movies the major jokes in this movie, THIS MOVIE FOR ALL PRACTICAL PURPOSES IS A PERFECT MIXTURE OF 2 MOVIES ITS A MAD MAD MAD WORLD (1963) AND RAT RACE(2001), the STORY MORE FROM ITS A MAD.. WHILE SOME OF THE CHARACTERS AND SEQUENCES ARE FROM RAT RACE probably because entire sequences have been lifted from its A Mad... by Neeraj Vohra in the past (Bhagam Bhag), and they needed enough content to fill in the spaces.

When i realised this i started the normal routine of lamenting my fate, and the quality of the Hindi movie industry,(HEHE screw driver up the bums so funny), when were we ever going to have an original movie here, is it my fault that I've seen so many good English movies,(the stereotypical Bawa who loves his old car haha) THEY EVEN IMPRESSED ME BY HAVING VERY FEW DIALOGUES IN English AND HAVING THE STARTING CREDITS IN Hindi, don't tell me they've copied the scene down to the kick the bucket joke, how many people who speak even English know that (Ritiesh Deshmukh is hilarious hehhoohoho), blah blah blah.....

THEN THE OTHER BUT HIT ME......

BUT....

EVEN THOUGH I KNOW ALMOST ALL THE MAJOR GAGS IM STILL LAUGHIN Aren't I.

Somewhere along the line in the attempt at Indianizing the story and the script, this movie added something new to otherwise predictable blend, much like what we Indians did to Chinese food, its like to take Chinese recipes of Manchurian and noodles, cook it Indian style add masala and what not, then when you mix the two it doesn't merely taste like Manchurian plus noodles but something else.

And so i laughed, and laughed and laughed, the JOKES ARE VERY VERYT CHILDISH mind you and if you don't have the appetite for childish humour then this movie is not for you, a bunch of us friends loved it, but when my parents went for this movie despite me warning them in advance they found the movie toooo childish.

The acting is superb, everyone has put really fine inspired performances, again with an Indian twist to everything, SANJAY DUTT WAS COMPLETELY OFF COLOUR, (maybe his impending jail stint had something to do with it, and GOD WILLING THE LAW WILL PREVAIL AND HE SHALL SOON BE BACK THERE AGAIN).Still his bad performance was very very noticeable and a slight dampener.AFTER CASH AND HEY BABY RITIESH HAS GAINED BACK SOME RESPECT.

THE SONGS WERE CRAP TO PUT IT MILDLY AND BADLY USED WITH 2 OF THEM IN QUICK SUCCESSION IN THE BEGINNING.Luckily thanks to large amount of content (the original IAMMMMW was 3 hrs and RR was 2 hours) there were no more songs in this film.

Technically this movie was OK with some special effects and sound effect used effectively, writing directing was OK given the fact that this movie was completely inspired.

By the end of it this turned out to be a very entertaining movie for me despite its huge shortcomings.

ONCE AGAIN I WOULD LIKE TO WARN YOU THAT THIS MOVIE Isn't FOR EVERYBODY, its very childish (not a single adult joke), everyone is a buffoon, AS PROMISED there is no romantic track etc etc. Its utter and complete stupidity and if thats not your taste then this movie is not for you.

If however you do like such movies, haven't seen the originals, or are willing to overlook its blatant plagiarism, THEN GO AHEAD AUR KAR LO DHAMAAL.

+S great inspired acting all around, good technically (again credit to the originals), lots of hilarious jokes some with a very Indian soul.

total 6/10 (any movie thats so blatantly copied deserves no better, i really enjoyed myself but i assure you it wont be the same for everyone, despite the fact that i enjoyed i still pray and hope for something original to come out of bollywood).

Humor you don't see very often.

Arbaaz was great. Salman was very funny Dialogues were out of this world in a good way Overall a well spent movie. this is a movie i would see again and again.Rani was good for a new comer at that time. Salman takes control throughout the movie and the inspector is very funny and so is johnny lever. watch the movie if you want humor. But i will admit that this movie will be very enjoyable for kids. The music is very nice and i think the sound effects are rather funny too. If you feel the need to take the edge off and just have a good old laugh then this is the movie you should definitely pick without doubt And the movie is for everyone except for a lil story based on drugs otherwise its a wholesome family movie. Go for it!

Well, I suppose it could have been worse. Not sure how, exactly, don't care to think. Don't you love it when they try to add softcore to sci-fi, and don't get either? What were they thinking? I wonder if it actually made any money.

Review :

Solid Offensive Satire

This movie is very low budget, to the order of virtually zilch so it has its problems with production value in certain areas as all cheap movies do. That's not really the point with underground cheap movies though is it, they ain't supposed to be trying to wow you with home made special effects that are almost as good as the studios, whats the point in that. Cheap movies job is to entertain you for an hour or so with some style and flair that is different to mainstream crap. This movie does that and succeeds a lot of the time and fails in some places too. Presented as a kind of Pythonesque, Derek & Clive vulgar comedy with the same guys appearing in different costumes it has a lot of visual flair and the camera work and cinematography although not flashy is overall good and unobtrusive, it shows the action clearly and the sound is great which is a rare thing in these cheap flicks. The plot is too complex and has almost two independent stories kinda crossing over each other. There is some intelligence here too with satire of giant corporations, religion, abortion, people with disabilities, women's rights, drug use, alcoholism amongst it. This isn't shoved in your face its in the background and the overall movie is comedy, and its very funny in patches and a bit slow in others. Its the type of movie that plays great to a festival crowd who are prepped for low budget production and want to laugh. I hear its done well in Europe.

Not terrible, not very good... average time waster

Written, directed and acted like a very typical US-made teen comedy. All the ingredients are there: good looking teen cast, pop-sounding but generic soundtrack, a few local Quebec celebrities thrown in the mix like Olympic diver Alex Despaties in a surprisingly well acted supporting role, and you get your average moderately entertaining flick.

Sure, all the roles are stereotypes but what do you expect ? Once you get over the annoyingly clumsy product placement, like for Super Écran, a pay-TV broadcaster that has it's logo in the most incredibly stupid and hard to believe spots, like gym towels and coffee cups, in a school, no less... you have to endure a low-budget music score and predictable plot.

But, hey: all those kids do a decent acting job. Fans of Eva Green should look for Catherine de Lean as Julie, the resident bitch: she could be her younger sister.

The mask of "Shiruba Kamen" was inspired from western knights headpieces and was a novelty for that era filled with cyborg-like costumes of Urutoraman and insect-like costumes of the Kamen Rider series. The hero was fighting space aliens with the simplicity of "Silver". After more than 30 years, just like in the final episode "Andromeda 2001", Jissoji Akio is back with a new "Shiruba Kamen" (2007) and a story that grew to maturity. It might be surprising that the new hero is in fact a young woman (Zabine) daughter of a Japanese father and a German mother.
