it's gafieira time!
i saw one more time this movie, a comedy of one of the most prolific directors of Boca do Lixo, Ody Fraga, with a dirty photograph participation of Carlos Reichenbach, yes, it's a dirty picture, filmed on a "Cortiço", one big suburban place, a comedy without shame or guilty, a humoristic portrait of São Paulo's lumpen-proletariat, prostitutes, unemployeds, dealers, two cinema students with all the political discussion of cinema novo, that obviously failed on the reality of the habitat. I really like these kind of movie, the world must know about a cinema that is discriminated in his own country, the pornochanchada, and A Dama da Zona is one typical representant of this big veil of Brazilian cinema.
Middle class girl accepts the invitation for some nude photographs, expecting to get near important and rich people after their publication. In fact, she marries a bisexual millionaire. But then she meets an adventurer, with whom she decides to have an affair.
Rossana Guessa Naked Makes this Terrible DVD Worthy
Norma (Rossana Guessa) is a low middle class young woman trying to find a rich husband to have comfortable life. She poses naked for a men magazine expecting to be known in the upper class. She engages the gay Marcelinho, who is imposed by his father to get married to have the right to his inheritance, but when Marcelinho's father dies, he calls their deal off. Meanwhile, Norma meets the opportunist and gigolo Lincoln (Roberto Pirillo), who pretends to be a tycoon farmer, and they have a torrid affair. But Lincoln believes she is a rich woman from a wealthy family and he intends to marry her to have money.
"A Pantera Nua" is a silly and amoral story, very dated in the present days, where every situation is a pretext for the hot Rossana Guessa to take her clothes off. She spends most of the film completely naked, as promised in the title of this flick. This DVD, recently released by the Brazilian distributor "Cinemagia", has a remark on its cover that it is "Digitally Remasterized". However, it is almost impossible to understand the dialogs, so bad the sound is. The trembling image is also terrible, hurting the eyes. In the end, only the naked body of Rossana Guessa makes this terrible DVD worthy. My vote is three.
Title (Brazil): "A Pantera Nua" ("The Naked Panther" in the 70's and 80's, "pantera" was a slang for a very hot woman).

Only the dwarf Nervous, who is gay, does not have sex with Clara das Neves. The six dwarfs and Clara das Neves are happy with their lives; when the Prince finds Clara das Neves, she prefers to stay with the six dwarfs, but the Prince brings Nervous with him in his horse.
A Funny Erotic Spoof of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Once upon a time there was a conceited and unfaithful Queen (Meiry Vieira) that frequently consults her magic mirror to learn if there is anyone prettier than she. When her husband the King (Xandó Batista) passes away, the Queen believes that her lover the Prince (Dênis Derkian) will marry her. However, the Prince meets the virgin Clara das Neves (Adele Fátima) and shags her in the woods; then he tells the Queen that he wants to marry her stepdaughter. The jealous Queen hires the Hunter (Costinha) to shag Clara das Neves and execute her. However he lets her go and Clara das Neves meets the seven dwarfs and she moves to their house.
"Histórias Que Nossas Babás Não Contavam" is a funny erotic spoof of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In 1979, this comedy was very successful and a great number of the youngsters went to the movie theater to see this joke with the fairy tale of the Brothers Grimm and the mulatto Adele Fátima is very naughty in the role of Clara das Neves (the translation would be Snow Egg White). In the end, the dwarfs prove that size doesn't matter
My vote is six.
Title (Brazil): "Histórias que Nossas Babás não Contavam" ("Stories that our Nannies did not Tell")
When young Tieh Chiao San is sent by his dying father to live with a former kung fu colleague in the town, he accidentally gets into trouble when messing with a gang running a snake-oil scam and then getting into a fight with an old drunkard. When Tieh reaches his destination he finds that the snake-oil gang is run by none other than his father's friend. He joins the gang but cannot bring himself to do the bad deeds demanded of him; this continues to the point where he is beaten and left for dead. Luckily he is rescued by the pretty Tsai Chiao and hidden out with her drunk uncle and leprosy suffering aunt as well as a Shaolin temple. Tieh uses his time to learn some new kung fu styles, which is just as well as it is not long till the gang come after him looking to finish the job.
Free-wheeling kung fu flick is dopey but fun
It's alleged that many kung fu films were written as they went along. Certainly many independent HK and Taiwanese productions have a thrown together feel to them so it's certainly possible but that would force the producers to shoot the film mostly in sequence. Shaw productions generally have the sense that there is some sort of script before they start filming. Here we have a Shaw oddity directed by an obscure one time director at Shaw who seems to have worked in the very same cheap independent productions mentioned above. Well here we have it, a high energy but story wise shapeless film that really does seem like it's from another studio.
A young man, Tieh, is sent by his dying father to live with a kung fu colleague in town. Entering the town, Tieh disrupts a snake-oil medicine scam and runs into a rascally drunk who fights him. Finally finding his father's friend, Tieh makes the discovery that the guy is running the snake-oil medical scam and a fraudulent hospital with his Tibetian (!) gang. Tieh becomes an underling in the gang but is unable to do any of the bad deeds his bosses demand. Accidentally overhearing a drug smuggling scheme, Tieh is beaten, thrown into a lake and left for dead. Rescued by the rascally drunk's god daughter (played by Kara Hui) he gets a job with a grocer and befriends a waiter at a bad restaurant but the Tibetian gang is on his tail again. Tieh ends up sheltered by a Shaolin temple, learns a little kung fu there and more from the drunk's wife, a master of the famed Leper's Fist!
Sound a little all over the place? Well, it is, but fortunately the film is fast paced with lots of fight scenes and a decent sense of humor. The advertising makes it seem that Kara Hui, who's great here, plays the title "Tigress" but she's really a supporting character. The "Tigress", from the best I can tell, is the crazy wife who is afflicted with boils and skin growths. The actress who plays her is quite funny. The character cleans dishes at the Shaolin temple so I assume that's where the title comes from. The fights are sometimes sped up and generally don't make fighting sense unlike other Shaw films. Lots of odd poses and movements. One of the villains wears sunglasses and has what seems to be an American Indian outfit on with a braided pony tail wig. At one point Tieh starts dancing like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.
Overall the film is quite dumb but the energy the performers put into it makes it all very enjoyable.
'The Hedgehogs' are a group of youngsters who are trying to gain control of the empty space between the blocks of flats, which they want to convert into a basketball court. The resistance of the neighbors is soon overcome and the court is laid down. Training courses in basketball for kids are set up. The ambitious coach is selecting only those of the boys who are able to carry out his most absurd orders. Two of them happen to be late, so he immediately fires them from the team. Thus the 'hedgehogs' war' against the indifference of the adult breaks out. The boys do not give up readily. They win the war through inventiveness, wit and with the help of the 'good guys' among the adults. But presently a rude pushy neighbor, who has no other concern but the safety of his expensive Ford car, returns from abroad. He wants to build a garage for his beloved car on the place taken up by the basketball court. A garage or a playground - this argument arises from the long-standing conflict between ...
Been there - done that!
Well, actually i was one of the many kids that took place in the audition for that movie back in 1979. I still remember the whole thing very clearly - the big studio, the "waiting room", lots of the-then-Bulgarian film stars, etc... The whole thing started when few guys from the Bulgarian Film Corporation came and visit my school, looking for kids for the roles distribution. Luckyly i was chosen for the cast and i loved it coz meantime i read the book, but I was unfortunate in the final casting, when the film makers choose another boy for the role I was supposed to take. Well never mind! The boy really played excellent and the movie IS still a "Bulgarian Classic"!!
Lost in the region.
One could have expected that Roberto Gómez Bolaños' achievements in `El Chavo' and `El Chapulín Colorado' would be continued in this movie; but this time, he managed to create rather a different but ordinary character: a poor class man who is a passionate fan of the local soccer team, that happens to be someone nobody cares about, but at least his own big dreams keep him on the track. in others words, yet another `mexicano soñador' (Mexican dreamer) kind of guy. The plot is very silly, and the routines a la `Blake Edwards' are overexploited. `El Chanfle' lacks originality and is very boring. It clearly looks it is a low-budget movie, but I think this is not an excuse for being so bad.
Maula Jat tells the true story of it's eponymous hero's blood feud with the local "gunda" Nuri Nath.
Very unrealistc but a good deal of entertainment
Maula Jat (Sultan Rahi) with very huge moustache and an axe like blade (called Gandasa) is a good guy but seems very bad. People are afraid of him but like him and seek his help against their enemies.
A group of his enemies attacks his village when he is in jail. Noori Nath (Mustafa Qureshi) is Maula's enemy and has never seen him. He was once helped by Maul (as Maula too has not seen Noori). Noori asks Maula if he could take him to Maula Jat.
Maul Jat doesn't tell him that he is the one. Maula is very famous for his bravery and fearlessness; even police is afraid of him that's why Noori wants to meet him.
The most unrealistic thing in this movie is the shriek of Maula's Bharjai (a word used for brother's wife for respect). She comes in the street and screams to Maula for help. Wherever Maula is, he listens the cry and arrives on time.
Fight scenes have been badly filmed. Film is too loud. In the end, Maula Jat kills a whole group of 20 to 30 armed men and with his blade (gandasa) but he gets only some minor injuries.
The writer has tried to portrait the blade (gandasa) of Maula Jat as a legendary thing as it was buried and Maula Jat digs it up for emergency use after many years.
Story can be described as total fantasy and fiction. The writer has tried to terribly exaggerate the old violent culture of Punjab province of Pakistan. This culture was a minority in cultures but this movie with too much violence, became a pioneer of violent Punjabi movies. This movies is still considered best in violence based Punjabi movies in Pakistan. Both, Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi, became very popular and got recognition with this movie.
saban ballises
This is the story of a poor guy who comes from a small village in eastern turkey to big city Istanbul. He has no idea of a life in Istanbul and how hard life is. In turkey village people always say something like "the stone and the earth of Istanbul is made of Gold" Whatever he comes to city with big plans and finds his uncle who works in a big hotel as a cook. He tells him that things are hard in Istanbul. As he talks with his uncle, some guys in the hotel tell him that they have a job for him. He says YES. The job is simple. The owner of the hotel is a depressive guy who has to beat someone to feel better. He says YES since he needs the money. Later they become good friends with the owner of the hotel. Later, he becomes a famous singer since some people discover his talent for Arabesk music. (arabesk is actually not a turkish music. Only people from the eastern part of the turkey sing that kind of music. Its full of sad stuff about love and sounds like arabian music) Whatever. The movie makes fun of people who come from eastern turkey and become famous in 2 days through arabesk music.
A narrow-minded movie
This movie is a superb production, but lacks of tolerance or flexibility or breadth on its view. The photography and locations were chosen beautifully. The story is based on revolution days in Mexico. The movie seems to have been directed as an anti-catholic propaganda against "cristeros" by evangelic fundamentalist, and the use of icons and dialogs are so obvious and deliberated that should be seen as educational essay of movie mistakes that shouldn't been done by a director. I think the movie make conclusions by its own an doesn't allow to make your own. It should have been a interesting movie but you get bored after the first 5 minutes.
Mulayim sert believes that he only has 6 month to live. So to avoid meeting his fate, he decides to re do his job status, carry a time bomb, and play Russian Roulette.
Kemal Sunals Best
First of all,if you are Turkish and didn't see this movie, I bow to you,for its most certain that you don't watch TV like rest of the world and thus, keep your mind clean.
Well, this movie is great. Why? Because it's not like majority of Kemal Sunal movies. It has more than a funny looking guy running around calling people "You son of a donkey!". Clever one-liners,mind blowing situations, well written characters...(Well, the nurse can't be count as one, I think she was producer's girlfriend or something.)
The movie is about a guy(Mulayim Sert-even the name is funny, you can translate it as "Gentle Tough") who thinks he has only 6 months to live and tries to kill himself in some really weird ways. I don't want to spoil the movie by writing more about it, you have to see it yourself! If you don't speak Turkish try to watch this movie with a Turkish speaking person because some jokes are extremely culture specific.
