One of the best comedy movies ever...

Why to categorize this just as a 'comedy' movie. This is clearly one of the best movies I have watched. I have watched it countless times and always excited for the next chance to watch!!!

Jandhyala, one of the finest talents in Telugu Film Industry (i count him the best of them all), will let you know through this movie why you should watch his movies time and again. Every department i.e. story telling, dialogues, acting, ..... is just awesome. Probably, Suresh Productions will never be able to produce such an extra ordinary movie again.

Don't want to talk about the actors in this movie, as they have achieved cult status in Telugu homes through their characters. Every 'character' comes with it and you can not forget them easily.

Truly, one of the best movies ever...

One of the most political films of the new Greek cinematography.

One of the most political films of the new Greek cinematography. The heroes of the film `Loufa kai parallaghi' (1984) (privates conscripted in the Greek army during the dictatorship) are gathered after twenty years to prevent -either due to police coercion or to their own motives (sympathy, economic/political interests, just to have a laugh)- their ex-companion from carrying out his threat and blowing up the central building of the national communications organisation if he does not receive TV broadcasting time to address a revolutionary protest text against the public machine. The film constitutes a rather complete and to the point comment on the mechanisms of government indifference, covering-up and finally engulfing foreign elements; a bitter, well-structured satire, sarcastic and above all astonishingly modern due to its internationalist character. The film is far from limiting itself to a social critique based on the heroes of the previous film. It is an autonomous creation having a clear reason of existence, at least in respect to its thematic and structure. The aesthetics of the film is not something extraordinary (I should probably make an appeal to my poor knowledge on relative issues) but this does not impair the general impression that the film, as a narrative, leaves. Regarding the non-Greek viewers, it should be noted that all the facts that are necessary to comprehend the film (the film incorporates comedy elements, as well) and are relevant to the Greek reality of the 1980s (and even 1990s) are given by the film itself.

This One Sucks...

I'm not gonna spend much time on VIRGINS FROM HELL, cuz it really doesn't deserve it. It's inept in every sense - and although some see this as a "so-bad-it's-good" type film, and I guess that's possible - I found it to be disappointing and boring...

A girl-gang takes on the "evil" Mr. Tiger - a sleazy drug-dealer who the girls battle for killing one of the gang's family - but Mr. Tiger ends up capturing the girls and imprisoning them and shooting them up with some sort of Spanish-Fly type horny drug. Sounds like the premise for an exploit "classic", right??? WRONG!!! Let's get a few things straight. I won't even get into the acting. It's lame. The dubbing is ridiculous and inept but makes the film a little funnier. The violence is weak, except in one or two scenes...and...get this...THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO (and I mean NNNNNOOOOOOO) nudity in the crap-fest. A bunch of semi-hot Indonesian chicks running around in vinyl hot-pants - and NONE of them shows so much as a tit or a butt-cheek. They even wear dresses in the BATH?!?!?!?!??? The non-nudity gets a BIG "boo" from me. I guess some may find this film somewhat entertaining - I found it stupid and "weak" as an exploit film...4/10

A take on the housing problems in Turkey

This movie is from the more serious era of Kemal Sunal, the archetype of the "Funny naive guy" in Turkish cinema. The title can be translated as "The tenant" and the movie is kind of a social commentary on the housing problem of Turkey of the 1980's with its overbearing greedy landlords and never-ending Cooperative housing projects (eventually turning out to be frauds) etc.

The main character played by Sunal, is a middle-aged office worker living (inconsistently in different apartments) with his wife, two kids and mother-in-law; trying to cope with making ends meet with his cheap payment, the demands of his overbearing annoying landlords and what is more....to keep an affair with a young attractive co-worker a secret.
