Godfrey Ho takes up acting!!!!!!
Well, what do we have here? Why it's a modern cut and paste effort in true Godfrey Ho style! But hold on a minute......do my eyes deceive me or is that actually the great man himself appearing in this?!!!! Good God! - Yes it is indeed! And who directed this film? - Ed Woo eh? Hmmmmmm........pull the other one! - Godfrey, you old scoundrel you! You've been at it again haven't you?!
Yep, all of our God(frey's) trademarks are here; an indecipherable plot (in this case something about the Yakuza and Triads teaming up), plus some brand new footage featuring western actors edited into proceedings in order to give the finished movie a wider international appeal (ostensibly). In this case our lead man happens to be none other than kickboxing legend Joe Lewis. Unfortunately all of Joe's scenes stand out like a sore thumb however as they have been shot on the cheap, on what appears to be regular video tape(!) Added to this, judging by the decidedly awkward performances in these newer segments, the script to was presumably skimped on leaving the impression that the actors are ad libbing most of their lines! On the positive side however, whilst sadly getting very little screen time, Joe does at least get to demonstrate some of his moves towards the end in this.
OK so that describes the newer sequences; what about the original film into which they are (clumsily) edited?
Well actually it's rather solid stuff featuring some excellent John Woo style shootouts plus some cool martial arts throughout. Particularly noteworthy is the rather splendid beginning in this wherein the bad guys gate crash a wedding and proceed to wipe out virtually every guest!
But let's be quite honest here folks; this film is chiefly memorable for one thing and one thing only and that my friends is the majestic on screen presence of one man......ney, one demi-god......the great man himself Mr Godfrey Ho! His electrifying performance here is surely comparable even to his directorial genius; In fact he clearly demonstrates that he is easily in the same league as the likes of the Brando's and De Niro's of this world. Indeed, quite how this master of his craft was overlooked for the best foreign actor award at the Oscar's is a veritable crime! Shame on you Hollywood!
*Cough!*
Daniel, a junior military officer, was reassigned in the battlefield of Mindanao after an argument with an influential person in Manila. Daniel's new unit in Zamboanga is composed of misbehaved and corrupt soldiers. The community does not have faith in his men and their impression on him is the same. Daniel starts working out the problem.
Two juvenile friends grow up to lead separate and opposite lives. One becomes a hardened Criminal, the other a Priest.
Additional information
The fact that this film became popular makes me ashamed to be human, and I'm revolted to see that the director, cast, etc. have no problem being associated with it.
What the information on this page neglects to mention is the horrendous and unnecessary suffering inflicted upon horses by the @rseholes responsible for this crap.
According to one web article, 157 horses were killed during the making of this movie.
No amount of 'entertainment' is worth that. Particularly not the measly slither offered by this p*ss-poor excuse for a film.
Two Miami car mechanics borrow a luxury car for a night, unaware that it contains classified documents
Entertaining, but not good
As I expected, this is not the best movie ever made. The plot, two mechanics that become mixed up in mob-business by "loaning" a car that they ought to be repairing, should tell you as much. However considering in the spirit which I hope it was made in it is not bad. Some funny twists, some high- and low-speed car chases makes it rather entertaining even if the stretch a few scenes so far that they become a little dull and you just wait for the movie to catch up again.
Do not expect an Oscar-winning movie and you will enjoy this one too... 4/10
A young boy who is kidnapped by traffickers who abduct children for use as jockeys for camel racing.
A nice attempt from Syed Noor
This movie brought back literate/educated Pakistani viewer back to theatre (cinema). It's one of the Lollywood good movies and nice attempt of Syed Noor. The movie story is not powerful but the songs and the acting of Javed Sheikh and Nadeem let the viewers to be in their seats during the movie. Syed Noor shot this movie in Pakistan and Turkey. The movie depicted one of the touching issues of Pakistani people where Syed Noor showed some Pakistanis guys try to go Greece illegally for job and better future of their families through the sea and get slaughtered by men-traders/smugglers. Two songs, 'Janu Sun Zara
..' and 'Choo Kay Teray Man Ko Hawa
.', of the movie were very popular during 1995 and 1996 and hit on 'Lollywood Top Ten' music chart for many week. The movies also included some of the religious sites of Turkey where the remains of popular Islamic personalities are on display for the public. Syed Noor is very talented write, director and producer in Lollywood world and always looked for new talents among teenagers and other experienced actors. He is also one of the directors of Lollywood industry who tried his best to bring back Pakistani viewers back in theaters (cinemas) during the era when every theatre (cinema) got converted to Shopping Mall by businessmen due to falling situation of film industry. In the Old West, the government hires three strippers to travel to mining towns and keep the lonely--and, no doubt, horny--miners entertained. At one town the patriarch of a grungy outlaw family discovers that the girls are getting $500 a day from the government, and decides to kidnap the trio and hold them for ransom. Unfortunately, he uses his two idiot sons in his scheme, and things don't go off exactly as planned.
A flesh-filled romp through the Wild, Wild West.
In movie terms, "bad" isn't necessarily an indictment on a film. Indeed, "bad films" has really grown into a genre unto itself. My friends and I will gladly sit down, crack open a few beers, and chuckle at "bad" d-grade films until we're either blue in the face or out of beer. I'm glad to report that "Takin' it Off Out West" is a supremely enjoyable d-grade movie, and I would recommend it to any fan of the bad movie genre.
Ostensibly, the number one requirement to guarantee the success of a movie such as this, is to show as much flesh as can be squeezed into the paper-thin plot. In "Takin' it Off Out West", this criteria is satisfied early and often. Surprisingly however, the stereotypical characters actually shoot off some funny one-liners, which make the film actually enjoyable to watch.
To write much more in this comment would be to over-intellectualise what is intended to be a simple and corny movie. Watch it with a few mates and you'll have a good time. For its modest purpose, it's a pretty good movie.

"The Dark Dealer" is a cheesy trilogy of creepy low-budget horror tales in the style of Creepshow that entertains a lot. I saw this movie for the first time on 24 February 2000 on VHS and I loved it. Yesterday I saw it again and I had lots of fun. This movie has a minimum budget, uses amateurish cast, the camera work and lightening are poor, but the stories are well-written and do not disappoint. My vote is seven.
