Ellie has been taking care of her younger brother Jimmy since their parents death. One night after picking him up from a party they are involved in a car accident on Mullholland Drive. While trying to rescue a woman from the other car a creature attacks and kills her, also injuring both Ellie and Jimmy. After some research Jimmy realizes the creature could only have been a werewolf.
Pretty Cool Little Werewolf Movie.
Every once in a while, Wes Craven comes out with something new that I enjoy. Scream was the last noteworthy movie I can recall (and that I have seen) that was good. While Cursed was no Scream, it was a pretty good little werewolf movie, despite what Wes, himself, thinks of it. I think it would have been better if it was left uncut, but I still thought pretty highly of it, even if most do not agree.
Cursed is about a brother and sister named Ellie and Jimmy (Christina Ricci & Jesse Eisenberg) who get into a car accident and end up getting bit by something while helping the other motorist. Neither knows what it was, but Jimmy saw the creature directly and describes it as a wolf-like creature. Slowly, they begin to feel the changes one makes when turning into a werewolf and they have to solve the mystery of how to stop it.
I do have to say that Christina Ricci was absolutely stunning. I love the way she looks with her hair down. Also, Kristina Anapau as Brooke was also quite a knock-out.
The plot does take a few turns, some of them not so good but overall, not too bad. The good far outweighed the bad with me. The werewolf itself was awesome, with the exception of the one time you get to watch the transformation. It was OK but could have used a little flair or a bit of violence in the change- maybe something along the lines of Van Helsing's vampire change would have suited me better. Also, the little gay sub-plot thrown in for no apparent reason could have been left out. I realize this sounds weird to say about a horror film, but coming out of the closet in the way shown in this movie was completely unrealistic. Even more so than the fact they were running from werewolves.
I was also a bit disappointed with the ending but I was truly entertained throughout the film and can recommend it with an 8 out of 10.
Sentenced to death for a series of murders, Fat Tony Ramonas (a.k.a. The Archangel) mysteriously escapes from solitary confinement and secretly manufactures an experience people begin calling the "Church." The government, threatened by Fat Tony's international phenomenon, hires reluctant CIA Agent Neil Lamb to assassinate him. When the news goes out that Fat Tony is dead, Fat Tony's followers begin searching for the key that he used to open it. Tired and discouraged in the search for the key, the followers dissolve. They stray from the path of the Church's ideals. Fat Tony, assumed to be dead, steps back into the world to correct them.
The all-rounder again surpasses his previously ordained acme......kudos
Through the film ,Dev sahab brings to light several serious issues. A perfect rags to riches story.Based in earthquake-ravaged Kutch the movie shows what man can achieve if he applies his mind to betterment of the morally sickened society he is a part of. The grief stricken villager Johny Master an outspoken person is elected thanks to the villagers desiring a new era in the politics. Dev sahab is elegant in his role as Prem Batra the 3rd richest Indian in U K and then wages a war against the corruption in the erstwhile noble world of politics. Mr Prime Minister is a treatise on cleansed politics and a sparkling society in general ,the ever green maestro turns in yet another sterling performance that accentuates his script akin to the strobe lights in clubs.
An evil force is awakened in downtown Athens transforming the unsuspecting citizens into raving zombies. The few survivors will have to fight hard for their lives. To the death.
All you can expect from horror... and much more!!!
Wow... seems like somebody dropped some cameras over Greece... and they immediately knew how to use them!!! This little gem has everything you would expect from a horror movie and offers much more yet. Of course you have seen most of it somewhere else... the stuff's not really new, isn't it? And yes, in some parts it seemed to me like a Greek version of "28 days later". But I've rarely seen Zombie's heads being destroyed in so many different ways. Headshots, lots of (almost obligatory) decapitations, head splitting and much more. Yes, this is definitely for the real gore-hounds among you! Acting, sets, make-up, etc. were OK but the camera work and editing were really cool in some parts... especially in the ending scene. If you're in the mood for about one and a half hours of good old bloody fun try to grab this. Highly recommended (for fans of the genre). To the producers: more of this, please!!!
What's a girl to do when her biological clock is ticking, yet marriage and a husband are the furthest thing from her mind? SILENT MEN follows the trials and tribulations of one very modern-minded young woman, Patricia, as she tries to plan out her motherhood. With the enlisted help of her best friend Liam she interviews on video dozens of men to find a suitable potential father for her child. But there's a catch: the relationship must be platonic!
Near Kawahara, a young man on a bus connives to meet a single mother by knocking over her son's box of crickets. He's Hiroshi, she's Haruka, the boy is Yuichiro. Hiroshi pursues Haruka, and she invites him into her flat. When Hiroshi is not engaged in exuberant sex with her, he's playing with Yuichiro and learning the intricacies of the neighborhood sport, cricket wrestling. The local cricket-raising champion is Anzai, who desires Haruka for himself. Haruka's ex-husband Taro and his girlfriend Kunico are also around - and everyone's paths will cross over desire, love, loneliness, and the quest for a victorious cricket.
What about the cricket match?
There is nothing like a good romantic comedy, especially when it is paired with cricket wrestling.
Haruka (Rinako Hirasawa) is a single mother who meets a new guy. Hiroshi (Mutsuo Yoshioka) is unemployed, but gets along well with her son. The two lovers get along great. So great that they are having frantic sex whenever they are together. You don't see that in Hollywood RomComs.
Of course, the sex alternates with the local pastime of cricket wrestling. Hiroshi is trying to beat the champ Anzai (Kazuhiro Sano), whom he has never met. His prime cricket gets in some hot water - actually hot oil, and he now needs to find another.
Of course, neither of the lovers are particularly faithful. We don't just see flirting either, as they engage in sex with outsiders, which, of course, leads to the predictable breakup.
There is some over-the-top silliness, and even some girl-on-girl action that was totally unexpected and, given the context, weird.
But, all ends as it would in a typical RomCom. You knew that, didn't you.
Unarmed Combat is a quirky comedy about human obsessions. When the beautiful Pingmei steps into Metal's laundry shop, he is immediately bedazzled. He cannot help but wonder why his wife is not more like her. Unconsciously, he tries to change his wife to become more like Pingmei. Little does he know that he is about to set off a chain of events that will rock the foundation of his marriage and turn his life upside down!
Quirky comedy that will hopefully come out on video.
Unarmed Combat is a strange comedy. The word 'quirky' used in its publicity is probably the most concise word for describing the movie. I would describe it as a comedy of obsessions set amid the banality of life. The central setting for the movie is an cluttered, antiquated laundry shop that looks more at home in the 50s or 60s than in modern Singapore. That contrasts strangely with the square lines of HDBland where the boss and his wife live. The aural background to the movie was decent with some nice highlights: watch out for the handphone ring tone and the Koel call. There was one or two parts where I thought the sound editing was a bit clumsy. But for a 19 day film and $100,000 budget from the Singapore Film Commission's Film Incubator Programme, I'd say that it was a good job.
Now that the cinema run is done. I hope it will be released on video because I want to get a copy. Hopefully the video release will contain the 19min short of the same title that Director Han Yew Kwang produced in 2004.
Watching this crazy gangland send-up with the "outlandish" commercial interuptions, makes you feel as if you are viewing a late night movie on local television, but, a t.v. station could "never" air anything like "Striptease Baby Dolls From Cleveland Meet The Unkillables", and the commercial spoofs are done the way we'd "like" to see them . It's zany comedy and action, laced with beautiful girls who "know" how to make your pulse rate soar!
Great funny B-movie enjoyment
It's hard to find, but a real treat if you can. I like the whole concept of a chessy 70's gangster flick being aired on a "late night" movie program. The film is then interrupted by hilarious commercial spoofs that had me rolling. The film has lots of gun battles and sexy strippers and it is narrated like the old "untouchables" TV shows. The plot is simple, 5 hoods who wear "bullet proof" long underware take over Cleveland,By shooting every rival in sight. At the end the gangsters face off with the "Striptease Baby Dolls" in a show bar shoot-em-up. As if that wasn't enough, there's a featurette at the finish where "each" girl does a complete dance for the movie viewer. HOT!!!
Night-Wolf has been Cardinal City's protector for over a decade, but what does it take to put on the costume night after night and wage war on crime? How can you keep fighting when you've lost 38 kid sidekicks on various dangerous missions? When younger, more able heroes are ready to replace you? When you've lost the respect of the police and the public? This hard hitting mockumentary aims to answer these questions and many others, giving a unique spin on the mythology of the superhero. As Night-Wolf wrestles with his own inadequacy, trains a new sidekick, Toothbrush Boy, and battles arch-criminals such as The Hoop and Jeremiah Kaine - all the while his exploits followed by a documentary team. A team that captures every mistake, every misplaced boast and every mistimed fracas. Night-Wolf gives you the superhero film as you've never seen it - unmasked!
Wow! I love this film!
I was lucky enough to see it at the Festival Of Fantastic Films in Manchester 2006. It should have won the award for best independent movie as it was easily the best there. It's bold and imaginative - not to mention FUNNY! Being a girl who's into comics (yes they DO exists) I caught all the references and was able to laugh at the characters with a clear conscience. It was clearly made by fans who love the genre. The performances were great and I was blown away by the ending that was both genuinely exciting, funny and satisfying all at the same time. Hats off to all involved particularly the costumers and set designers who really brought the whole concept home. I urge any distributor out there to seek it out and give it the release it so richly deserves...
An insightful comic treatment of Bulgaria's recent history
"Icy Dream" was aired on Bulgarian television in 2005, and is not readily accessible to an international audience, which is a loss. This film has an extremely clever plot that takes the viewer from the heyday of communism in the mid-80s squarely to the heart of capitalist Bulgaria in 2005, the year the film was made. The dialog is witty and intelligent, and is supported by fabulous acting. Asen Blatechki in the role of the rebellious socialist artist turned capitalist success is outstanding, but my favorite performance is by veteran actress Boika Velkova, the deep-voiced, red-haired power-woman who does a brilliant job in her role as head of the "NIK" cryogenic laboratory. It is tons of fun to see Bulgaria poke fun at itself with such a fine comedy. An encounter with a gay man in a department store provokes the comment "we'll be seeing lots more of those now," while the right-hand man of the mafia can now have himself frozen for a couple of decades to escape his misdeeds with impunity using technology developed by the socialists for space exploration. The musical score supports the film superbly, and the cinematography is great. If you want to get an insider's view of Bulgaria's transition from communism to capitalism, try to find a way to see this movie. It's a real treat, and its inaccessibility to a broader public is truly a loss.
An invitation for a famous Iranian bandmaster, Maxx, living in a foreign country, is accidentally sent to a young cabaret singer with the same name.
MaXximum
For ones who know about Iran's social and political situation It's very easy to understand the great comedy of this story and be familiar with the jokes and get the concept. In fact many people doesn't have any clear idea about Iran and it's very important that we have some information about Iran before watching the movie. so this is all about it:
