Excellent... if it would have been told in 10 minutes. But 93 minutes? Forget it!

I saw the trailer and thought this movie might be worth to watch. Unfortunately, as I found out while watching it, the trailer already shows the highlights.

The movie is way too long and the story could have been easily told in 10 Minutes. As short film this would be excellent, but 93 minutes... it really gets boring.

The only reason to watch it is the excellent casting of Thierry Van Werverke http://us.imdb.com/Name?Van+Werveke,+Thierry as lisping "Glotze". He is really funny...

The rest of the cast? Oh boy... There is Udo Kier, the king of supporting actors, who plays an insane and mercenary doctor. Due to a laryngeal defect he wears a amplifying, illuminated necklace which strangely alters his voice. This is so stupid and somehow reminds me of Dennis Hopper playing the evil guy in Super Mario Bros. (an incredible piece of sh*t).

Then there is Burt Reynolds as gangster boss "Banko". Gosh! This facelift is terrifying. Michael Jackson looks better. Due to his tense skin, he is almost unable to fully open his mouth so that he can't speak properly. Anyway the part he plays... I mean "Smokey and the Bandit" was fun to watch when I was a kid, but this one really hurts.

Remarkable is the casting of Steffen Wink as "Rico". Remarkable, because in the movie he just looks like producer, co-director (and actor) Til Schweiger, so that I wonder why Schweiger hasn't played himself. Wink's performance is ridiculous.

Niels-Bruno Schmidt as "Dave" isn't worth to mention, Martin Glade as "Siggi" is OK because he is quite funny to look at.

Concludingly, I wouldn't recommend to spend money on this movie. I saw the movie with three friends and we all rated it 4.0 (out of 10).

A drama-esque comedy with an all-star Swiss cast

Switzerland doesn't seem to have much stardom to offer. In THIS case however it looks like every important role was played by a big Swiss stage- or TV-star.

Beat Schlatter plays the wannabe stand up comedian Roni Beck who has more willpower than talent. Or could it be that he's just always the right guy in the wrong place? All he needs is a fair chance - and that is hard to come by. Without job and money he hides in his mothers room in the old people's home. He soon is discovered by the home's manager Serge (played by Patrick Frey). Instead of kicking Roni out Serge abuses him as cheap workforce, but at the same time is taking care of Roni's stage career. Roni on the other hand struggles with his new job as an informal male nurse and makes new friends in the old people's home. But - as in real life - comedy and tragedy go hand in hand.

Beat Schlatter - who not only plays the lead character but also wrote the script to KOMIKER (translation: 'comedian') - is one of the finest script authors in Switzerland. He also has extensive experience in comedy, as he performed (together with Patrick Frey) live on stage for many years. This is their second film after the much successful movie KATZENDIEBE (see imdb.com).

The main characters in KOMIKER are played by all-time favourite Swiss actors like Stephanie Glaser (Roni's mother), Walo Lüönd, Mathias Gnädinger or Pinkas Braun.

So, if you like your comedy to be a little bit more twisted, maybe even darker and reality-based... KOMIKER is the movie for you to see.

Unwatchable Garbage! no stars out of *****

I'd like to start by saying, I LOVE B-movies....seriously...I am a big fan of Lundgren,Van Damme,Norris,Snipes,Seagal and the rest & even find a lot of undemanding cerebral pleasure from Sci-Fi Channel Originals. But this is so unwatchable I've never watched it to the end, I always end up switching off at the Garden gnome in the factory scene, Because I Just think to myself...what I doing watching this garbage...

I think judging by the soundtrack (of what I've seen) this is meant to be very tongue in cheek...what with the jaunty Country Music during the fishing scene and whatnot....but this is just terrible, the actors are sleepwalking, The Director couldn't care less and the production budget while not THAT low is used badly...very badly..

Soooo many people on IMDb refer to various Movies being worse than ED Wood's, I very much doubt many of them have actually seen his Films, they just use his name as a reference.... Well I have seen some of his movies... and can tell you that this is far worse!!! at least Wood's films were Watchable in a so bad it's good way, This stuff just rapes your Brain and makes you thicker every time you watch it.... after 4 attempts now of trying and failing to making it past the mentioned scene, the DVD is now in the Trash Can.

I can't believe my eyes when I See More people have given this unwatchable garbage a rating of 10 than anything else......My god!!! people actually rate this - up there with Casablanca....Well you guys should surely be dragged away from your houses from guys in white coats anytime now.

A good political entertainer

The story revolves around a father son duo . Father being a position greedy politician while the son working tirelessly for the welfare of the people . Director Joshi is well know for churning out good family entertainers. This being one of them . Somewhere in the middle we feel that the story sags a bit . Songs find entry at unnecessary junctures. But the director does well in bringing out the father son competition in the best possible way. Even further the comedy and punch dialoges are quite well timed. On the whole a good suggestion for malayalies who wish to watch a entertainer with the whole family .The lead roles were done justice by dileep and kavya but the support cast could have been better.

Great story with a bit of Hollywood editorializing

Yes, it may be a bit Hollywood-ized, but overall it's a fun film with a great cast. Alan Rickman is delightful as Stephen Spurrier (not portraying him as effete, as the real S. Spurrier complained of upon reading the screenplay), and Bill Pullman, Freddy Rodriguez, and Chris Pine all turn in great performances as well. Dennis Farina is an amusing and welcome addition if also because of his scenes with Rickman. One negative aspect is that the gorgeous and talented Rachael Taylor is not put to better use. Also, one very negative aspect is that the love plot is totally weird and seems an afterthought - the movie would have been a lot better without it.

That said, I really don't have other complaints, and I found the story interesting and basically just enjoyed the film. Sure, it may have some corny scenes, but geez.. when was the last time you watched a movie without a corny scene?? Just because you've seen the story before in, say, The Mighty Ducks, doesn't make it necessarily bad.

Also, for those who have issues with the facts of the story that have been changed, you can rent any number of documentaries on the story for free from your library - this film, might I remind you, declares itself "based" on a true story, which it is. I also highly recommend checking out George Taber's book, Judgment of Paris, which inspired this film.

Searching his paste !

The problem with this movie is simply it never find his paste. It present you Zendo as the main character... at first but then as the movie progress he become more or less a second rank character... For a movie about a tournament, unlike Bloodsport for example, there is almost no matches. Sure the movie show a couple good fight scenes here and there, but story wise its correct but there is no character development for a lot of the characters and even Zendo, which is supposed to be at least one of the main character. I do agree also on the fact that Samantha Alarcon is a terrible actress, she feel so unreal when talking, at least she is cute... But bottom line, it could have been a pretty good movie but it is just average...

Enchanting

I just watched this film and I was absolutely enchanted. I should mention that I am not an Indian, not have I watched very many Indian films. Sampoorna Ramayana is technically simplistic and sometimes naïve (from the 2009 Hollywood point of view), but a visual delight and an inspired introduction into this chapter of Indian mythology. The musical episodes are excellent, and some are simply unforgettable (e. g. the story of god Kama – the dancing is mesmerizing - or Ram's song for Seeta or Surpankha's song or the song by the two Seeta's sons). Several episodes had an enormous element of surprise and awe for me (not to give too much away I would mention Hanuman's interrogation and Ravan's monologue among others). Speaking of actors I'd like to stress their striking looks which were quite fitting for a magical story of divine adventures. To sum it up – the film should not be judged by the modern standards but rather it should be evaluated from the point of view of its own artistic universe. Sampoorna Ramayana is ambitious and beautiful (if too long at the beginning) and a must for anyone interested in India.
